At the end of this introductory course, participants would have acquired a thorough knowledge of the imaging and needling techniques for nerve blocks in the following regions of the body:
- Interscalene
- Supraclavicular
- Infraclavicular
- Axillary
- Elbow to wrist
- Femoral
- Popliteal
- Ankle
Each presentation will include 25% of the time devoted to questions and answers.
This course has a number of distinguishing features.
Day 1
- Didactic lectures on 8 basic nerve block procedures
- Extended question and answer periods
Day 2
- Supervised hands on scanning on live models for more than 4.5 hours
- Opportunity to use a variety of ultrasound machines (BK Medical, GE, Philips, and SonoSite)
- Hit-the-target practice on phantoms
- Thorough review of sonoanatomy in 8 body locations
- Video demonstration of nerve block procedures
- Practical tips and tricks for ultrasound guided blocks
- Knowledge evaluation with immediate feedback
Day 2
- Practical scanning examination with immediate feedback
- Practical hit-the-target examination with immediate feedback
- Further hands on scanning practice and individual feedback
Early registration is encouraged. Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of 48 registrants. This course will be taught by University of Toronto faculty at the Toronto Western Hospital located at 399 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
