Overview

Ultrasound for Pain Medicine Workshop Satellite Symposium-Member-initiated

This is a 2-day intensive ultrasound workshop will introduce physicians to the role of ultrasound in pain management, with respect to the role of diagnosis and treatment of common conditions and its place in interventional pain management. Instruction in ultrasound guided nerve blocks and musculoskeletal imaging will encompass most commonly occurring chronic pain conditions. At the end of this introductory course, participants would have acquired a thorough knowledge of ultrasound imaging and needling techniques for chronic block procedures.

Prerequisite: Prior experience with some basic chronic pain block procedures and ultrasound-guided technical skills is recommended.

Course Description

The course will cover a number of selected nerve block procedures for chronic pain management involving neuraxial, peripheral nerve and soft tissue structures. Included in this will be instruction in musculoskeletal imaging.

Goals and Objectives
To discuss the basic knowledge of applying ultrasound machine in the guidance of interventional procedure
To describe the basic anatomy and sonoanatomy relevant to the chronic pain diagnosis and treatment and the performance of a selected list of chronic pain block
To learn a selected list of the ultrasound-guided techniques for performing chronic pain blocks

Cancellation/Refund Policy: The full registration fee less $100 administration fee will be refunded, if written notice of cancellation (e-mail or fax) is received no later than 21 days prior to the workshop date. No refund for cancellation less than 21 days. Registration may be transferred among colleagues or be applied to a future course within one year. In the unlikely event that a course is rescheduled or cancelled, pre-paid registrants will be given the opportunity to transfer to a future course or may receive a full refund. The course organizer will not be responsible for any travel and/or lodging reimbursements.
